This dynamic 13-day tour is a wild ride through the country’s most spectacular natural settings, and biggest adrenaline sports hubs. Hike steamy jungle trails, learn to surf on the idyllic Caribbean coast, spend two days rafting down the Pacuare River, and stay in a remote jungle lodge that can only be accessed by raft or 4x4. Itinerary
Day 1: San José
Arrive in Costa Rica's vibrant capital and make your way through streets buzzing with markets, live music, and shoppers, to our downtown starting hotel. Relax by the pool after your flight, before a welcome meeting with your tour guide and group, followed by dinner and drinks.
Day 2: Monteverde
Leave the city behind and head into the unspoilt countryside to beautiful Monteverde. Home of the most pristine cloud forest on Earth, and a hub for adventure activities, it's a Costa Rican must do. Settle into our rustic mountain lodge before taking a wander through the lush, green surroundings.
Day 3: Free Day
Today's yours to enjoy Monteverde. Get your adrenaline pumping with some jungle ziplining and canyoning, saddle up with a horseback ride, visit a coffee plantation or sugar mill, or pull on your poncho and head into the misty cloud forest for breath-taking views and wonderful wildlife.
Day 4: La Fortuna
Journey through rolling hills, and across a lake to lush La Fortuna. Home to the Arenal Volcano, and a centre for adventure sports, you're sure to have an amazing time here. Join an optional excursion to some local waterfalls this afternoon, chill by the hotel pool, or explore your rainforest surroundings.
Day 5: Volcanoes & Activities
Spend the day at your own pace, making the most of everything La Fortuna has to offer. Optional activities include high-octane canyoning, kayaking, SUP, waterfall jumping, waterfall swimming, kayaking and a wildlife refuge tour through one of the world's most important wetlands.
Day 6: Bikes & Hot Springs
Explore the stunning landscape around La Fortuna on a guided half-day bike tour. Get off the beaten track as we cycle past farms, fertile valleys, and spectacular mountains. This evening, soothe your aching muscles with an optional hot springs experience in a ravishing jungle setting.
Day 7: Rafting Expedition
Transfer to the banks of the mighty Pacuare River ready for an epic two-day rafting expedition. Paddle past waterfalls and hidden canyons before stopping for a short hike through pristine jungle. Tonight we're staying in a one-of-a-kind rainforest lodge which is only accessible by 4x4 or raft.
Day 8: Rainforest Hike
Head deep into the rainforest on foot today with a local guide, where we'll see swim in secret streams, see magical waterfalls and learn all about the indigenous Cabecar people. This afternoon, kick back in a hammock in our jungle lodge and soak up the sounds, smells and sights of the forest.
Day 9: Rafting & Beaches
Take on Pacuare's monster rapids today with a final morning of rafting, before we leave the river behind and travel on to the laid-back beach town of Puerto Viejo. Check into our colourful Caribbean style accommodation, then hit the beach for pearly sands and the turquoise waters of your dreams.
Day 10: Surf Lesson
Jump on a bike and explore the area on two wheels today with a guided full-day cycling tour. We'll discover the stunning black and white sand beaches, immaculate tropical forest, and indigenous wildlife, and learn to ride the rollers with a surf lesson from a local expert.
Day 11: Beach Day
Today's yours. Rent a kayak, visit a local working farm and tropical garden, head to Punta Mona and Manzanillo for some of the country's best snorkelling or just soak up that warm Caribbean sun on the beach.
Day 12: Back to San José
We're saying goodbye to the beach and returning to Costa Rica's vibrant capital today on a local bus. Spend the afternoon picking up some last minute souvenirs, before raising a toast to Costa Rica on a final night out with the group.
Day 13: Goodbye Costa Rica
Your amazing Costa Rica adventure comes to an end today. Leave at a time that suits you, and get planning your next trip!

Arrive in Juan Santamaria Airport (SJO) in San José on day 1 of your tour. Walk to the airport exit doors, where you will find one of our local team members waiting to transfer you to our starting accommodation. The tour leader will hold a welcome meeting this evening.
Your amazing trip ends where it started in San José on day 13. Return airport transfers are not included but it’s only a 15 minute taxi ride (depending on traffic) and your tour guide can help you book this.
